kremlin is forced to cut funding for entire industries to increase the budget for burying fallen “special military operation” soldiers and compensating their families. According to amendments to the russian budget for 2025 submitted by the government, funding for the ministry of defense is planned to increase by 30 billion rubles ($373 million), of which 145.5 million rubles ($1.8 million) will be allocated for military burials — enough to bury approximately 2,800 invaders.
▫️To balance the budget, they plan drastic cuts in funding for other sectors — aircraft manufacturing, energy, and research and development. At the same time, russia’s energy sector urgently requires modernization, but russia lacks both the funds and the necessary technologies.
Instead of developing science, designing aircraft, and modernizing outdated energy infrastructure, kremlin is increasing war-related expenditures against Ukraine. Meanwhile, 2024 has become the deadliest year for russian invaders since the beginning of the so-called “special military operation.”
