Putin takes control of Russian science

In this way, kremlin is tightening state control over science. The trend indicates that, going forward, only those loyal to kremlin will be allowed to remain within the system. Dissent among scientists in russia is already being punished: according to media reports, since 2022, 89 members of the academic community have faced persecution — 64 researchers, 18 students and postgraduates, and 7 professors. These cases are often based on charges of “state treason” or “discrediting the army.”
kremlin is systematically dismantling the independence of the scientific community. Under the guise of strengthening the “authority of the russian academy of sciences,” russian science is being fully transformed into a tool of state policy and propaganda.
