How Kremlin used Christmas and Russian Orthodox Church to propagandize war
The Kremlin uses the Russian Orthodox Church and religious holidays as a tool to promote war and hatred of Ukraine, democracy, and Western civilization.
All church events for Christmas in Russia, including those attended by Vladimir Putin, were filled with militarism, Putin’s cult, war justification, and hate propaganda.
▫️ Patriarch Kirill (Gundyaev) of Moscow’s sermons boiled down to key propaganda points: Russia has a unique civilizational path, for which it is hated and “beaten”; the West is entirely sinful, with a “collapse of morality”; we must pray for “Orthodox President Putin” and the Russian army.
The Russian Orthodox Church, entirely subordinated to the Kremlin, has long ceased to represent Christianity or Orthodoxy and instead acts as an instrument of ideological support and war justification.
