The kremlin continues its disinformation campaign over the exchange of prisoners of war

russia’s commissioner for human rights, yulia lantratova, published a list of 273 Ukrainian servicemen whom russia allegedly says it is ready to exchange “at any time,” implying that Ukraine is ignoring the offer.

▫️ Earlier, she claimed that russia had allegedly offered Ukraine three lists of prisoners for exchange over the past month, but that “Kyiv refused to take them back.”

▫️ Ukraine’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, called this another information manipulation and a cynical lie, and described the lists as fake. “russia knows perfectly well that uncertainty is exhausting. That is why it is trying to turn it into a weapon against Ukraine and against our families who are waiting for their loved ones,” Lubinets emphasized.

By resorting to such disinformation campaigns, russian propaganda seeks to divert attention from numerous violations of international humanitarian law against Ukrainian prisoners of war.
