russia spreads a new lie about “atrocities by the AFU in Pokrovsk”
russian propaganda continues to push fake stories as part of its campaign about alleged “Ukrainian war crimes against civilians” in Pokrovsk.
▫️New messages have appeared accusing Ukrainian soldiers of shooting civilians. russians are spreading false claims that Ukrainian drones allegedly attacked civilians trying to leave Pokrovsk toward russian positions. They also circulate allegations that Ukrainian soldiers in civilian clothes deliberately fired at civilians.
As in previous cases, no evidence of these so-called “crimes” exists. russian reports rely on “testimonies” from people under occupation and on drone footage that cannot prove the location, circumstances, or who actually attacked civilians. The Center has debunked similar fakes many times before.
The goal of this campaign is to discredit Ukraine’s Defense Forces, provoke division between the military and civilians, and distract from russia’s own war crimes in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
