russian propaganda is circulating a fake video allegedly showing a resident of western Ukraine appealing to the President of Poland to “return Lviv to Poland.”
◽️ In the video, the man asks the Polish authorities to “take back” the region in order to “save people from mobilization” and claims that local residents supposedly do not need Ukraine because they are “Poles.”
In reality, the video is fake and was created using artificial intelligence technologies, as clearly confirmed by specialized media verification tools designed to detect deepfakes.
◽️ This fabrication is part of an information operation conducted by russia to amplify the narrative of alleged territorial claims by Ukraine’s western neighbors.
The goal of this russian disinformation campaign is to create a false impression of “separatism” in Ukrainian regions and to sow internal division within Ukrainian society.
