Internal information manipulations: “Alexander SHELEST” YouTube project
The project “Alexander Shelest” is hosted by journalist and blogger Oleksandr Shelest. Until 2021, he was the author and host of his own program, “Shelest Show,” on NewsOne, a TV channel linked to high treason suspects Viktor Medvedchuk and Yevhen Murayev.
▫️ The channel primarily airs broadcasts featuring guests who often promote narratives aligned with Russian propaganda. For example: “the Ukrainian government is illegitimate,” “Ukraine provoked Russia’s invasion,” “Ukraine is a dictatorial regime,” and more.
Among the channel’s guests were: Artem Dmytruk, suspected of illegally crossing the state border, who is under investigation and on the international wanted list; Yuri Lisovsky, a rap artist living abroad, some of whose work could be seen as an attempt to normalize evading mobilization; Snizhana Yehorova, a TV presenter residing in Russia, who is under sanctions imposed by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
The channel avoids commenting on Russia’s actions and uses vague phrasing that may redirect viewers’ focus from the true causes of the full-scale invasion.
Earlier, the Center also addressed the activities of YouTube projects “VYSHKA”, “LANA TUT!” and others, which were created after the blocking of sanctioned TV channels.
