On October 14, the first educational course for African journalists began at the RT Academy, a media school tied to russian propaganda efforts.

▫️ The training is conducted by so-called “media experts,” including journalists from the propaganda channels RT and Ruptly. RT reported that representatives from 35 African countries are participating in the project.

In reality, through such media projects, russia seeks to expand its influence and establish stronger ties in African countries, as well as to recruit African journalists who, after training, can propagate pro-russian narratives in their countries.

▪️ This is not russia’s only effort to increase its influence in the region. The country has been ramping up (https://t.me/TheCenterforCounteringDisinfo/7629) its so-called cultural cooperation with African states by opening “russian houses,” which in practice serve as fronts for information operations and the promotion of kremlin propaganda.

▪️ Moreover, RT has signed a memorandum with the Egyptian TV channel Sada El Balad, which airs statements by russian officials and broadcasts manipulative reports about Ukraine.
