Why Russia is organising “IT forum” for the countries of the Global South

▫️ This is being positioned as a high-level event where russian experts will discuss “digital sovereignty”, “information security” and other ways of using IT with representatives of the Global South. But the real purpose of this forum is propaganda.
▫️ The main task of such events is to create the illusion that russia is a technological leader in the world.
The kremlin is also trying to take advantage of African states’ need for digital development to impose the services of its own companies, which should make them dependent on russia. In this way, russia will be able to use these countries to confront the West.
