India will investigate use of its citizens by Russia as “cannon fodder”

The Supreme Court of India has launched an investigation into russia’s actions following mass appeals from 26 Indian families who found themselves trapped and forcibly involved in combat operations. According to the latest data, at least 32 Indian citizens have already died fighting on russia’s side against Ukraine.

russians deceive Indians by promising them well-paid jobs as “assistants in the army” or service in the rear away from combat zones. In fact, after arriving in russia, people have their passports confiscated and are pressured into signing contracts with the russian defense ministry, after which they are sent to the most dangerous frontline areas without proper training.

The situation with Indian mercenaries is another confirmation that russia views foreigners solely as expendable material. Promises of large monetary rewards and “safe service” are just a cover for the mass recruitment of foreign citizens into an aggressive war.

russia continues to cynically exploit the economic vulnerabilities of residents of Global South countries to compensate for its own losses on the frontline. In this way, the Kremlin is trying to delay a new wave of open mobilization within russia itself at the expense of foreigners’ lives.
