“Unknown” Drones Spotted in Poland During NATO Exercises

On October 14, the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands reported that during the Falcon Autumn exercises on Polish territory, the military detected suspicious drones that disrupted communications. Despite the incident, the drills were not canceled, though the program had to be adjusted.

▫️ While there is no direct evidence of russia’s involvement, such actions fit the overall pattern of the kremlin’s hybrid warfare against the West. This incident is just one episode in a series of unauthorized drone flights over strategic sites in EU and NATO countries. In recent months, drones have been detected in Poland, Denmark, Norway, Germany, and other nations.

The incident in Poland may indicate that russia is conducting reconnaissance of the Alliance’s air defenses and testing NATO’s and the EU’s response speed and effectiveness to irregular situations, particularly under electronic warfare conditions. Therefore, equipping NATO units with modern detection, interception, and electronic warfare systems is becoming critically important.
