Reports have emerged that allegedly, starting February 28, South Korea is canceling sanctions on the supply of medical equipment to the russian federation, which supposedly indicates a reduction in pressure from the international community.
In reality, South Korea announced certain changes in the licensing procedure for the export of advanced technology products to the russian federation and countries involved in the war. This is done to prevent their use for military purposes.
At the same time, under this initiative, the permission for the export of medical devices solely for humanitarian purposes, at first glance, will become somewhat easier. Currently, it is only necessary to declare the purpose of the supply of goods, rather than undergoing a licensing process.
Meanwhile, the export of medical equipment from South Korea to the russian federation is possible only for humanitarian, not military, purposes. In the event that violations by russian exporters are detected, severe penalties will follow. Accordingly, the requirement to confirm use for humanitarian purposes and to take corresponding commitments remains.
