While Ukraine, together with the United States and European partners, is actively pursuing diplomatic solutions to achieve a just and lasting peace, the russian dictator is publicly sending the opposite message — one of escalation and threats.
▫️ Speaking at a meeting of the russian ministry of defense board, vladimir putin claimed about the alleged “possibility of increasing the pace of the offensive” and the russian army’s “strategic initiative”. Such rhetoric is a classic element of wartime propaganda, designed to mask the real situation on the battlefield.
▫️ A separate part of his remarks focused on strategic weapons — the “poseidon”, “burevestnik”, and “oreshnik” missile systems — which putin routinely uses as tools to intimidate the international community. He also stated that improving russia’s strategic nuclear forces remains a priority. This is yet another reminder that the kremlin deliberately relies on blackmail rather than negotiations.
These demonstrative threats are primarily aimed at Ukraine’s partners. The kremlin’s goal is to influence political decision-making, reduce support for Kyiv, and impose a scenario favorable to moscow on the international community.
