Parliamentary elections in Moldova: Russia loses influence
The parliamentary elections in Moldova dealt a serious blow to the kremlin’s positions. The “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) party of President Maia Sandu received over 50% of the votes based on the count of 99.87% of ballots.
▫️ Dodon’s pro-russian “Patriotic Bloc,” supported by moscow, scored 24.2%. Despite significant resources invested in media campaigns and supervision by kremlin officials, the attempt to keep Moldova within russia’s orbit failed.
▫️ A clear trend is emerging — the kremlin increasingly loses in places where it once had stable influence.
These elections send an important signal to both Ukraine and Europe. The more apparent the kremlin’s weakness becomes, the more united and determined the international coalition grows. This is especially crucial now, amid russian provocations violating the airspace of European states, when a forceful response to the kremlin’s actions is necessary.
