Fake appeal from ‘Ukrainian military personnel’ to Iran
A video is circulating on foreign and russian social media platforms in which individuals in military uniform bearing Ukrainian insignia, speaking on behalf of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, record a ‘message’ to the people and leadership of Iran containing threats.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that this video is a hoax. This is indicated by unnatural pronunciation, a distorted context, equipment that does not meet standards, and the absence of any link to actual units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have made no such statements or threats. The official position of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is published exclusively on verified sources.
The aim of this provocation is to discredit the Ukrainian Defence Forces on the international stage, artificially stoke tensions in international relations, and create yet another pretext for disinformation by Kremlin propaganda.
