Crisis in the construction of nuclear power plants in Turkey: “Kremlin’s ‘nuclear’ influence is weakening
A crisis has emerged at russia’s strategic construction project in Turkey — the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. Since May, russian workers have not been receiving their salaries, and the total number of personnel has decreased from 12,000 to 3,000. Media reports also indicate that moscow is attempting to sell its stake in the nuclear facility.

The construction of the Akkuyu NPP — once viewed by moscow as a potential instrument of pressure on Turkey — has become a burden on russia’s war-drained economy. The country can no longer sustain the financing of such ventures.
