The odious ex-deputy, whose daughter’s godfather is putin’s, v.medvedchuk «distinguished» with a publication about Ukraine.

In an article that appeared in the mouthpiece of russian propaganda – «Izvestia» – medvedchuk listed all the known narratives of the kremlin. The former leader of the party «Opposition Platform – For Life», now banned in Ukraine, blames the West and the Ukrainian authorities for starting the war in Ukraine and actually sides with russia in the conflict. At the same time, he calls his position a «struggle for peace and civil dialogue».

Medvedchuk actually justifies the russian invasion of Ukraine, claiming that «russia was faced with the need not only to protect its economic interests, but also international honor and dignity» and also expresses the opinion that the continued support of Kyiv from the West could lead to nuclear war. Here are just some statements of a pro-russian politician:

🔸 «most American and European politicians do not want any peace for Ukraine»

Medvedchuk also claims that relations between the russian federation and Ukraine «have their own specific history» and that the russian elite «did not just grant Ukraine independence» in 1991, but also «pushed it toward». Ex-deputy claims that since the first Maidan in 2005, Ukraine allegedly began to build an anti-russian policy at the level of state ideology and «psychologically set Ukrainians against russians».

Medvedchuk also called on pro-russian politicians to create a «political movement» in Ukraine, which should be led by those «who did not give up and renounce their beliefs under the threat of death and prison». At the same time, medvedchuk mentions the hostilities themselves only in passing, not condemning moscow’s actions for russia’s announced annexation of territories and the death of Ukrainian civilians.

☝️ Medvedchuk is a close acquaintance of putin, who is called the «godfather of Medvedchuk’s daughter». After the Maidan in 2014, he became one of the leaders of «OPFL» – the largest pro-russian force in Ukraine. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he was detained by Ukrainian law enforcement officers on suspicion of treason by transferring information about the location of a hidden unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to russia’s FSS in 2020.

According to K. Budanov, Chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the financing of certain officials and agency networks in Ukraine was carried out through medvedchuk of the FSS of the russian federation. On September 21, as part of the exchange of prisoners, medvedchuk was handed over to the russians, receiving 200 Ukrainian fighters for him. After the exchange, medvedchuk made a political statement for the first time.

❓ Why did the pro-russian politician’s article appear just now?

▫️Firstly, although putin’s hopes for a «fifth column» during the attack on the territory of Ukraine did not come true, the defeat of the military campaign forces the kremlin to once again try to «shake» Ukraine from the inside. And the former deputy, freed on putin’s personal instructions, is like no other suitable for this informational attack on the consciousness of russians and Ukrainians who still trust russian information sources. After all, the kremlin did not abandon its plans to establish a pro-russian government in Kyiv with the participation or under the leadership of medvedchuk.

▫️Part of theses (in particular, in which the blame for the war unleashed by the russian federation is transferred to the West, and the threat that the war, possibly nuclear, will spill over into other European countries) is addressed to a layer of russians who do not support aggression, and to a foreign audience.

▫️With other theses (in particular, a call to pro-russian politicians to create a «political movement» in Ukraine), the organizers of the «information bomb» are trying to reanimate collaborationist opposition to the current government in Ukraine. The fact that medvedchuk’s article is inspired by the kremlin is evidenced by the fact that putin’s press secretary d.peskov emphasized that medvedchuk’s publication arouses interest and is well distributed. It is not for nothing that the article of the odious politician was distributed in the main russian-language propaganda media and social networks, and translations were published on controlled foreign resources.

Secondly, the publication should demonstrate to Western politicians and analysts, as it were, the existence of an opposition potential capable of opposing the current Ukrainian government.

❗️However, it can be argued that the «informational injection» will have a minimal impact on the consciousness of a Western, russian or Ukrainian reader. Medvedchuk’s statement about a «brotherly people» and the need to take into account the interests of russia look absurd against the background of almost daily bombings of Ukrainian cities and killings of civilians, in particular the terrible consequences of a rocket attack by russian terrorists on a high-rise building in Dnipro.

Moreover, in the conditions of war crimes against the civilian population, the kremlin should not count on the termination of military support of Ukraine’s partners in order to force the russian aggressors to stop.
