russia and global companies bypass sanctions
In support of Ukraine, international companies have been boycotting the russian market for more than a month. But some companies only pretend to refuse to cooperate with russia.
For example, the energy company Shell announced on March 1 that it was severing its cooperation with Gazprom and leaving the russian market.
In fact, Shell continues to buy russian oil. According to Bloomberg, the company has changed the definition of russian oil in the contract – “goods should be considered goods of russian origin if more than 50% of their composition is made in russia”. Shell mixes russian oil (49%) with oil products produced in other countries (51%) and calls the resulting product “non-russian”
This is not a violation of the law! But Ukraine insists on the introduction of an energy embargo and restrictions against russia to prevent such manipulations in the future! Sanctions must work 100% of the time
