Anti-Ukrainian propaganda in belarus. timur pryahin

The CCD continues its series of publications about the main perpetrators of anti-Ukrainian propaganda in belarus. Another well-known propagandist in the country is musician timur pryahin.

pryahin compensated for his lack of talent with his loyalty to lukashenko’s regime and by echoing russian propaganda about the Revolution of Dignity and the war in Ukraine. He first gained “fame” in the spring of 2014 by releasing a song in support of Berkut soldiers. Later, he began writing songs about the “exploits” of russian militants in Donbas and the so-called “smo,” using kremlin propaganda tropes.

▫️ pryahin unsuccessfully participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 – the jury did not appreciate the song, and his performance was mocked online. Despite the bellicose rhetoric of his “work,” the message of the song for the European audience is completely different – it was called “We want peace.”

▫️ The singer has visited the occupied territories of eastern Ukraine and participates in concerts and rallies where russia promotes the war and glorifies its participants.
