Article about a «hungry autumn and winter in Ukraine» in Polish media is a russian fake
russian propaganda is spreading a fabricated front page of a Polish publication featuring a fake claim that Ukrainians are allegedly facing a «hungry autumn and winter» as a result of russian strikes.
An image allegedly showing the front page of a Polish newspaper has appeared online, claiming that following strikes by the russian army, 63% of Ukrainians will be on the brink of starvation.
In reality, the publication did not publish any material with such content. The original front page of the relevant issue looks completely different, while the circulating image is a fake created using graphic editing software.
To spread this material, propagandists used the «Matryoshka» disinformation network, which systematically creates fake content disguised as publications by well-known Western media outlets.
The main goal of this campaign is to spread fear among Ukrainians, undermine public morale and create a false impression that foreign media consider Ukraine’s situation hopeless.
As Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation and an officer of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, previously stressed, there is no threat of food shortages or famine in Ukraine. russia is systematically fuelling panic in an attempt to make people stockpile food and put additional pressure on supply networks. Despite russian strikes on logistics infrastructure, businesses are adapting their routes.
