russia’s foreign intelligence service makes another claim about a “provocation against russia”
russia’s foreign intelligence service (svr) claims that the “West is preparing a provocation involving russian weapons” in Latin American countries to accuse russia of supplying weapons to drug cartels.
The svr, headed by putin’s longtime ally sergei naryshkin, regularly makes public “sensational revelations” about alleged preparations for various “provocations” against russia abroad. However, none of these “revelations” has ever been substantiated.
Previously, the svr claimed that Ukraine was allegedly “preparing strikes against russia from the territory of Latvia,” that France planned to involve private military companies in “direct participation” in the war against russia, that “NATO troops” were being prepared to participate in the war against russia, and that the UK was allegedly preparing sabotage against Ukrainian or foreign vessels in order to blame moscow.
By spreading unsubstantiated claims about “provocations against russia,” the svr under naryshkin is increasingly turning into a propaganda body that uses such narratives to discredit Western countries and convince the russian public that the entire West is waging a war against russia — a narrative intended to justify the continuation of the war against Ukraine.
