Anti-migrant campaign: russia launches new fake narratives

The Center has identified the continuation of a hostile information operation aimed at artificially fueling anti-migrant sentiment in Ukraine.

▫️ A staged video is circulating on TikTok showing individuals posing as Ukrainian soldiers burning the flags of India and Pakistan and threatening foreign nationals. The video has been actively amplified by russian Telegram channels. Analysis using specialized detection tools confirmed that the audio track was generated with artificial intelligence.

▫️ The original source of the video is an account posing as a “Ukrainian opposition channel” that systematically spreads pro-russian narratives. It has also consistently promoted anti-migrant content. Previously, the account published a video featuring a serviceman with a fabricated AI-generated audio track calling for violence against migrants, a deepfake about an allegedly AWOL soldier seeking revenge against foreigners over a fabricated crime, and an AI-generated fake claiming that Indians were being recruited by Ukraine’s Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (TCRSCs).

All of these materials are fabricated provocations orchestrated by russian intelligence services. The primary objective of this wave of disinformation is to create the false impression that xenophobia is widespread within Ukraine’s Armed Forces and to incite hostility toward migrants among Ukrainians.

The Center has repeatedly documented attempts by the enemy to exploit migration issues to divide Ukrainian society and has previously debunked other fake narratives spread as part of this russian information operation.
