Fake about a “migrant calling on people to go to Ukraine”
A fake video is circulating online in which a man allegedly identified as a migrant calls on foreigners to travel to Ukraine.
◽️ In the clip, a man of South Asian appearance speaks in English, urging fellow nationals to engage in labor migration, claiming that in Ukraine they are “well paid” and there are “many beautiful boys and girls.”
In reality, the video is manipulated. The creators of the fake used an authentic recording of a Pakistani blogger speaking about courier work in Uzbekistan. The original audio was replaced with English-language narration generated using artificial intelligence.
◽️ The Center has already documented similar fakes about migrants spread by russian propaganda as part of a large-scale anti-migrant information operation, and has warned (link) about the continuation of the campaign aimed at manipulating perceptions of labor migration in Ukraine.
❗️ The purpose of such disinformation is to incite xenophobic sentiment and create artificial tensions within Ukrainian society.
