russia is using education to strengthen its influence in Africa
At the “russian cultural center” in Equatorial Guinea, the “birthday of st. petersburg State University” was celebrated, during which they urged local youth to learn russian and pursue education in russia.
Such events are presented as “developing scientific and educational cooperation”, but in reality, russia is trying to use education to spread its own influence on African countries.
By educating foreign students, russia not only provides them with practical knowledge, but also conducts ideological indoctrination. They are instilled with hatred towards the West, admiration for the “greatness of russia”, and a desire to promote russia’s interests in their own countries.
While young russians are increasingly restricted in access to higher education, the kremlin is simultaneously using the education sector as a tool to expand its influence in African countries.
