How russia tries to influence elections in the Czech Republic
Ahead of the parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic, nearly 300 accounts were exposed spreading pro-russia narratives to influence the results of the upcoming vote.
▫️Most of these accounts were found on TikTok. The accounts are interconnected, commenting on and reposting each other’s posts to increase reach. Their actions are coordinated through automated bots and are likely part of a russian troll factory.
russia continues to actively use troll factories and other information influence systems to promote pro-russian and eurosceptic political forces in Eastern European countries to affect election outcomes. Previously, the Center reported how the kremlin attempted to impose its political scenarios in Moldova; similar approaches are now observed in the Czech Republic. All these actions are part of moscow’s broader plan to destabilize and advance its destructive influence in Eastern European countries.
