kremlin is stepping up disinformation against Moldova ahead of elections

On September 28, parliamentary elections will be held in Moldova. According to international media and analysts, russia has launched an unprecedented campaign to interfere in the country’s information space.

▫️ Researchers have identified over 900 accounts linked to the kremlin that synchronously spread fake content. TikTok recently removed a network of 314 accounts with a total audience of over 100,000 users. The Moldovan National Police blocks hundreds of new bots daily.

Thousands of videos and posts using artificial intelligence algorithms are spreading through TikTok, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. In one case, propagandists manipulated by imitating the cover of an American magazine, baselessly accusing President Maia Sandu of absurd “scandals.”

Earlier, the Center published an analytical report on the channels and methods of spreading russian propaganda in Moldova ahead of the parliamentary elections.
