Recruitment through tenders: Russia is unable to cope with recruiting people for war
For the first time in russia, recruitment for the war against Ukraine is being conducted through government procurement.
▫️The authorities of the alexandrovsky district in the vladimir region announced a tender for the “search for candidates for contract service.” The contract was signed with the moscow military-patriotic center “voivode.” The cost of services will depend on the number of “volunteers” sent to the front. This is an unusual practice for russia. Previously, recruitment was done either directly through military commissariats or through semi-legal groups like the wagner pmc.
Heavy losses of russian army in Ukraine require constant replenishment of personnel with new “volunteers.” However, fewer people are willing to fight even for large sums of money, and attempts to recruit through private structures indicate that russia’s regions are struggling to meet kremlin plans. At the same time, such persistence in seeking recruits shows that kremlin is not interested in ending the war.
