Why ru-propagandists are “not interested” in catastrophic forest fires
Large-scale forest fires continue in russia. More than 1.2 million hectares are engulfed in flames — that is larger than the entire area of the Zakarpattia region or Montenegro. The worst situation is in zabajkalsky krai. The region suffers from fires every year, but this time the scale is record-breaking.
▫️ According to reports from russian officials, the total area of fires in the country has increased 2.5 times compared to last year, and overall since the beginning of 2025 approximately two thousand forest fires have been recorded on the territory of the russian federation, which is 20% more than last year.
Despite the catastrophic situation, russian state media pay minimal attention to the fire topic. Instead, they are full of headlines about the war and diplomacy abroad. the kremlin does not want to draw attention to yet another failure of state governance. All resources — human, financial, technical — are poured into the war against ukraine while russia itself is literally burning. putin once again sacrifices the interests of his own people to satisfy his imperial ambitions.
