russia admits that the war against ukraine is leading to the impoverishment of russian people
russian authorities are trying to prepare the population for a decrease in budget revenues and, as a result, a drop in living standards.
▫️ At an expanded meeting of the russian ministry of finance, the head of the ministry, Anton siluanov, had to admit that the “stressful situation in the oil market” is forcing them to “adjust expenditures to new realities” and that “we will have to be more modest in our desires.”
In 2025, russia is expected to experience a decline in budget revenues due to falling oil prices and Western sanctions. In March, Russia’s oil and gas revenues dropped by 17%. It is forecasted that by the end of April, the decline will reach 22%.
Despite the fact that the falling oil prices will soon lead to a noticeable drop in the standard of living for ordinary russians, the kremlin’s priorities remain payments to contractors for the war against Ukraine and investments in weapons production. Unwilling to end the war, the kremlin will continue to save at the expense of its own citizens.
