How conscripts are being involved in russia’s war against Ukraine
During the ongoing spring conscription campaign in russia, numerous raids and forced detentions of conscripts are being reported.
▫️ These actions aim to recruit as many young men as possible for compulsory military service, with the ulterior motive of pressuring them into signing contracts with the russian ministry of defense and deploying them to fight against Ukraine as contract soldiers.
The russian authorities officially claim that conscripted soldiers do not participate in combat operations. However, in reality, due to heavy losses and a dwindling number of volunteers , despite high financial incentives, conscripts are being forced to sign contracts and take part in hostilities as professional soldiers.
▫️ No matter how hard ru-propaganda tries to maintain the illusion of unlimited manpower, in the fourth year of full-scale war, the personnel shortage is becoming increasingly evident.
Earlier, the Center reported that this year russia announced the largest spring conscription drive in the past 14 years.
