Russia is experiencing cases of funding shortages for those willing to join the “SMO”
In Russia, regional payments for individuals who signed a contract to participate in the war against Ukraine are increasingly being delayed.
▫️ For instance, in Khakassia, the regional payment has been delayed for three months. In response to the outrage of “volunteers,” local authorities blame the “difficult situation, sanctions, and the local budget’s shortfall due to losses in the coal industry and aluminum production.”
To meet the Kremlin’s recruitment plans for the war against Ukraine, local authorities in Russia continuously increase payments. However, this financial burden is becoming increasingly unsustainable for many regions. Persistent underfunding of urgent needs due to prioritizing war expenditures may eventually lead to significant social issues in Russian regions.
