Russia has no money to modernize power stations
The Russian government has allowed power-generating companies to forgo modernizing their plants due to a lack of funds. As a result, more than a dozen Russian power plants will go without new turbines, boilers, and transformers.
In addition, Western sanctions have cut Russia off from European equipment, and domestic production is unable to provide a quality replacement. This has caused the cost of modernizing energy infrastructure to skyrocket. Consequently, Russian authorities are increasingly discussing plans to purchase electricity from China.
Instead of investing in critical infrastructure, the Russian regime continues to prioritize its war against Ukraine.
