FSB and GRU deceitfully recruit young people to commit terrorist acts

Russian special services recruit poorly informed young people for sabotage in Ukraine, luring them with promises of easy money—only to deceive them and condemn them to death or long-term imprisonment.

According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation and an officer of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, Russian FSB-linked groups promise payment to those carrying out sabotage against the Ukrainian military. However, they often refuse to pay, mislead recruits, and do not inform them about the plans to detonate explosives while the perpetrators are still carrying out their assigned tasks.

▫️”They are looking for teenagers and poorly informed young people who fall for the easy money promised by Russian handlers, often without specifics (go there and deliver a package). The Russians simply use the recruited saboteurs and abandon them,” noted Andriy Kovalenko.

Those who take part in such missions face only two outcomes: death or a long prison sentence, losing their future in the process, Kovalenko concluded.
