What Global South media write about Ukraine
The Center monitors the information space of the Global South and identifies narratives favorable to Russia. In recent days, the key topics related to Ukraine have been:
– possible talks between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin;
– Vladimir Putin’s statements on the terms for peace talks;
– strikes by Ukrainian drones on infrastructure deep in the Russian rear and strikes by the Russian Federation on Ukrainian territory;
– a strike on a boarding school in Sudzha, Kursk region;
The main topic related to Ukraine in the countries of the Global South is possible peace negotiations. There are different assessments and scenarios of possible agreements. Messages favorable to Russia about the need to agree to Moscow’s terms are being voiced in the Middle East and in some Latin American countries.
Ukrainian strikes on strategic targets deep inside Russia were mentioned in the Global South media reports. For example, China emphasizes that Ukraine’s widespread use of UAVs could become a serious problem for Russia.
Moscow’s efforts to promote Russian disinformation in the Global South, accusing Ukraine of striking a boarding school in Sudzha, Kursk region, have been recorded. However, this disinformation has not become widespread. There are also statements by the Ukrainian side that it is Russia that is responsible for this crime.
