russia-DPRK negotiations: why lavrov and Choe Son-hui intimidate the world
russia’s foreign minister sergey lavrov recently met with DPRK Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui in moscow amid reports of North Korean military involvement in the war against Ukraine. Russian propaganda is amplifying news about the talks, emphasizing:
▫️ lavrov’s statement that russia-DPRK relations are “at an unprecedentedly high level” and that both countries’ military and intelligence services have “established close contacts.”
▫️ Choe Son-hui’s threats to the U.S. and the West, declaring that Pyongyang “will continue to improve its readiness for a nuclear retaliatory strike.” She also referred to russia’s war against Ukraine as “sacred” and pledged North Korea’s full support to “stand with russia to the end.”
The growing nuclear rhetoric and show of unity between russia and North Korea serve as an intimidation tactic aimed at Western nations, showcasing their commitment to military cooperation despite global concerns.
‼️ According to Andriy Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinfromation and officer of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, approximately 3,000 DPRK soldiers are already in kursk, with an estimated total of 12,000 North Korean military personnel present in russia. North Korean engineers are also reportedly present in Donetsk region.
“russia plans to utilize DPRK military forces for combat training in the kursk region, with intentions to deploy them to temporarily occupied territories in the future. All plans are known,” emphasized Kovalenko.
