russian propaganda continues to actively spread fakes about the alleged establishment of “concentration camps” by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the kursk region.
Earlier, this disinformation was once again voiced by russian foreign ministry spokesperson maria zakharova, claiming that the Ukrainian military is allegedly forcing russian civilians into such camps at gunpoint. Neither zakharova nor other disseminators of this disinformation can explain why the Ukrainian Armed Forces would need to do this.
❗️In reality, the kremlin is spreading this blatant fake to divert attention from the russian filtration camps that have been systematically established in the occupied territories of Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion, in clear violation of international humanitarian law.
Through these “filtration measures”, russian occupiers identify and intimidate disloyal civilian Ukrainians. Many who “failed the filtration” have ended up in russian prisons, where they have been subjected to torture and other abuses.
No amount of russian fakes can absolve russia of responsibility for its war crimes.
