Manipulations about “threat of russian’s offensive on Kyiv”
Manipulative messages about the alleged “urgent preparation for the defense of Kyiv” are spreading online due to the threat of a russian offensive on the capital. The reason was the military’s words about the construction of fortifications in northern Ukraine.
In fact, there is currently no threat of a new russian offensive on Kyiv. The construction of defensive lines is a planned work to strengthen security.
The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, an officer of the Defense Forces Andriy Kovalenko, emphasized that the enemy’s strategic goal remains unchanged — the occupation of all of Ukraine, but at the moment the enemy does not have the resources to attack the capital.
“There is no threat of an attack on Kyiv. You should not manipulate the words about the defensive lines that were voiced by the military, because they should be. But this does not mean that the enemy has the strength to attack the capital here and now,” he noted.
