russian propaganda unleashes new wave of fakes about events in the kursk region

«Captured Ukrainian women» and «atrocities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine»: new fakes of ru-propaganda about the events in kursk region

The Center for Countering Disinformation continues to monitor the russian information space and identify new fakes and manipulations about the events in the kursk region spread by enemy propaganda.

The CCD recorded another wave of disinformation publications around the following topics:

▫️«Violation of international humanitarian law». russia continues to accuse Ukraine of violating international humanitarian law without evidence. Diplomats of the aggressor state are actively involved in spreading this disinformation. At a meeting on the Convention on Inhumane Weapons in Geneva, a representative of the russian federation recounted the fabrications of ru-propagandists about how the Ukrainian military allegedly mined civilian mass gatherings, placed mines on the bodies of the dead and shot people trying to evacuate, etc.

▫️«Captured women». Propagandists released a video of allegedly two captured Ukrainian women in military uniforms. In the video, which has signs of being staged, one of the women says that they came «to film how our guys captured the kursk region». This footage is being distributed to discredit the Ukrainian military and intimidate the participants of the operation in the kursk region.

▫️«Looting». Videos of looted shops in the kursk region are actively circulated on enemy resources, claiming that it was done by the Ukrainian military. However, often even the authors of such videos say that the looting was done by local residents. There are also new videos showing russian troops looting in the kursk region.
