What shooting in the “parliament” of Abkhazia shows

While Putin delivers another round of propaganda on the “Direct Line”, a shooting occurred in the so-called parliament of Russian-occupied Abkhazia, leaving one “deputy” dead and another wounded.

Recently, protests erupted in Abkhazia against an investment agreement with Russia, pushed by the puppet authorities of the breakaway region. This agreement is effectively an attempt by the Kremlin to fully absorb Abkhazia. The protests ultimately forced the resignation of the “president.” In response, Russia has increased its pressure on the economically dependent Abkhazia.

With the Kremlin’s resources stretched by the war against Ukraine, Russia is losing its grip on previously occupied territories.
