War criminals are the new elite of Russia: Artur Orlov
Artur Orlov is a Russian army serviceman from Udmurtia, who participated in the war in Syria and Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
In 2010, he graduated from a Kazan Tank School. Orlov fought in Syria in 2016 and has been involved in the war in Ukraine since 2022. He was awarded the title of “Hero of Russia” for his role in the battles near Popasna in the Luhansk region, which was almost completely destroyed by massive shelling.
During Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Orlov served in the 6th Tank Regiment of the 90th Division of the Russian Armed Forces. In the fall of 2022, Ukrainian law enforcement accused two soldiers from this regiment of raping a pregnant woman in the Kyiv region during the Russian occupation.
In 2023, the European Union imposed sanctions on the commander of Orlov’s division. The sanctions stated that soldiers under this command committed brutal murders and sexual violence against the civilian population in the Kyiv region during the occupation.
Today, under the Kremlin’s direction, Orlov is presented as part of “Russia’s new elite” and was named a finalist in the “Time of Heroes” program. In September of this year, he was appointed head of the children’s organization “Movement of the First”, where he has been tasked with ideological indoctrination of children and youth.
