Putin has found a way to keep foreigners in the army
russian dictator vladimir putin has signed a decree allowing foreigners to serve in the Russian army during the mobilization period.
▫️ At first glance, this may seem like nothing new — foreigners have previously signed contracts for military service in russia. However, a closer look at the legal details reveals the true purpose of this decree: to deprive foreigners of the right to leave the army after their contract ends.
▫️ putin’s decree on “partial mobilization” from September 21, 2022, is still in effect. This document includes a provision stating that servicemen cannot be discharged until the mobilization is officially ended, except in certain cases — such as reaching the age limit, serious illness, or a court sentence. This rule now also applies to foreign nationals.
As a result, foreigners who sign a contract with the russian army fall into a trap with no legal way out.
