How Putin is trying to convince russians that the economy is fine
Vladimir Putin used the forum “Russia Calling!” to try to personally convince Russians that the country’s economy is “doing well”.
▫️ In his speech, the Russian dictator emphasized the supposed success of the economy despite the attempts of “unfriendly countries” to deliver a strategic defeat to Russia on the economic front.
With such rhetoric, Putin is trying to maintain a good face on a bad game, as most Russians are already feeling the economic consequences of the war against Ukraine and sanctions. These include a decline in production, business closures, the collapse of the ruble, a record-high increase in the discount rate, and cuts in social spending.
