The center recorded a peak in ru-propaganda activity regarding electricity supply
The Center detects peak activity of hostile bot farms and a change in the tactics of information attacks regarding the situation with electricity supply in Ukraine.
▫️ Systematic monitoring of the information space confirms the abnormal activity of automated networks on topics of power outages. An unnatural speed of comment appearance, their synchronization on different platforms, and an atypical ratio of reactions to views are recorded. The analysis shows that a significant part of the negativity is generated by algorithmic bots.
Currently, the enemy has adapted his tactics, placing a bet on “hyper-localization”. This involves the creation of networks of pseudo-local channels and communities (including “ZOV”), which simulate regional news and discussions. Through them, socially sensitive topics and everyday fears are exploited.
▫️ As part of the “Black Winter” campaign, responsibility for the consequences of russian strikes on energy infrastructure is shifted to the Ukrainian authorities. In parallel, fakes about the “loss of control”, “shortages of goods”, as well as manipulations about the alleged unfair distribution of electricity and its “inefficient use” are being spread.
▫️ A separate direction is the intimidation of the population through the discrediting of “Resilience Points” – rumors are being spread about their danger, “patrolling of TCCs” nearby, and allegedly inadequate provision.
Countering these threats is based on a combination of technical solutions and preemptive informing. The Center detects such networks and publicly reveals the mechanisms of their operation.
