russia uses AI to manipulate narratives around mobilization
The Center is recording a new russian information operation using AI-generated videos, aimed at polarizing Ukrainian society around the issue of military service and mobilization.
▫️ Videos featuring AI-generated women are being circulated on social media, in which they allegedly openly state that they seek relationships exclusively with servicemen in order to receive high state compensation in the event of their death. In these videos, the “women” tell fabricated stories claiming that during the full-scale war they married several times, their husbands were killed, and each time they received compensation payments.
In reality, such stories about so-called “black widows” are a widespread phenomenon in russia. The issue is actively discussed in the media, and officials are searching for legislative solutions. It is precisely this internal russian problem that hostile propagandists are trying to transfer into the Ukrainian context.
The goal of this information operation is to polarize society, provoke a split between the military and civilians, and demotivate citizens from joining military service.
