Key takeaways from meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Micheál Martin

The main messages of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during the meeting with the Prime Minister of Ireland Micheál Martin:

▫️On the eve of autumn, putin is preparing new strikes on Ukraine, additional mobilization in russia and expansion of the war.

▫️It is important that today there is a decision on a new package of EU sanctions against russian aggression. I am grateful to every leader of Europe for this support.

▫️We will work with other partners outside the European Union so that they also include the new EU sanctions in their legal regimes. Synchronization of sanctions is important.

▫️Today we raised the issue of stopping European funding for those organizations, in particular sports ones, that allow russian athletes to participate under the russian flag in international competitions.

▫️Yesterday we had a conversation with representatives of the US President about what steps we can take to stop russian aggression. But while the war is ongoing, the key priority for us is air defense.

▫️The US has several developments and plans for ending the war, which they plan to share with Ukraine and russia.

▫️Ukraine has received an invitation to the US to discuss peace proposals – the meeting may take place in the coming days or weeks.

▫️Only together in Europe can we overcome the energy challenges that we currently have. We appreciate the support of partners, in particular Ireland, for our energy sustainability.

▫️The government needs to focus on implementing sustainability plans in all regions.

▫️The unity of the Ministry of Defense and the military leadership of our state is very important. There will be a personnel reset in the army, I am waiting for proposals from the new Commander-in-Chief.
