How Russia is preparing orphans in the TOT for war

In the temporarily russian-occupied cities of Donetsk and Amvrosiivka, orphaned children are being taught military skills under the supervision of instructors from the “warrior” center. Training includes tactical medicine, UAV operation, and basic military preparation conducted by participants and veterans of the war against Ukraine.

▫️ Orphans — one of the most vulnerable social groups — are effectively being prepared for war, which goes far beyond any ethical boundaries. The militarization of children in the context of armed conflict is not only morally unacceptable but may also constitute a violation of international humanitarian law, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit the involvement of children in armed conflicts.

russia is deliberately using the orphanage system in the occupied territories as a tool for ideological control, militarization, and preparation of a new generation for service in the army of the occupying state.

Earlier, the Center, together with the national initiative of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy Bring Kids Back UA, presented an analytical report: “Militarization of Ukrainian children in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine”.
