Faces of russian propaganda in the TOT: olga teteria

⚡️ The CCD continues its series of reports on the main performers of russian propaganda in the occupied territories of Ukraine. Today, we will introduce olga teteria, a young face of kremlin propaganda in the Kherson region and a correspondent for the Tavria TV channel, established by the occupation authorities.

When russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, teteria was an 18-year-old student at Kherson State University. Following russia’s capture of Kherson in 2022, she joined the occupation authorities’ propaganda efforts. She attended the so-called “Media School,” organized by russian propagandist alexander malkevich on the basis of the seized Kherson Regional TV and Radio Company “Tavria.” Malkevich is known for his ties to yevgeny prigozhin, owner of the wagner private military company.

Upon graduation, teteria became a correspondent for Tavria TV, occasionally using the pseudonym “alevtina novorossiyskaya.” Her reports included interviews with “russian world” supporters in occupied Kherson and coverage of events from a kremlin-approved perspective. In September 2022, she actively promoted the illegal “referendum” on Kherson’s annexation by russia, describing it as a “reunification with the historical homeland.”

In April 2023, teteria joined the russian union of journalists, and in August, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office formally charged her with collaboration. She now faces up to 12 years in prison if convicted.
