Why the Russian Foreign Ministry created a new “African” department
Russia has established a new department for African partnerships within its Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The department is led by Tatyana Dovgalenko, a seasoned diplomat known for making critical statements about UNESCO and Western partners who support Ukraine.
This move underscores the increasing importance of Africa in Russia’s foreign policy priorities. The continent is becoming a focal point for Russian diplomacy amid a broader focus on the Global South.
