Why Russian medicine is dangerous for Africans
Behind the claims of Russian propaganda about aiding African countries in combating epidemics and improving healthcare lies a hidden agenda of expanding their own influence on the continent.
▫️ The actions of the Russian Federation, often presented as humanitarian efforts, frequently result in direct harm to people in African countries. While providing aid, Russia simultaneously conducts disinformation campaigns targeting Western humanitarian initiatives.
Some Western non-profit organizations have been accused of “creating biological weapons” and intentionally spreading diseases. Through these narratives, Russia fosters distrust in doctors across Africa, discouraging people from seeking treatment.
According to the African Center for Strategic Studies, Russia has sponsored 80 disinformation campaigns in 22 African countries since 2022, putting countless lives at risk. The true objectives of Russian aid are to secure economic advantages and bolster political influence in Africa.
