Russia has intensified rhetoric about the “Ukrainian threat” to Africa
russia continues to use the XIII International Meeting of High Representatives in charge of security issues to spread anti-Ukrainian propaganda among Global South countries. This time, kremlin is trying to portray Ukraine as a “threat to stability and security” — specifically for Africa.
▫️ director of the Africa partnership department at russia’s MFA, tatyana dovgalenko, repeated russian propaganda fakes, claiming that Kyiv is allegedly training militants in the Sahel and that Western weapons supplied to Ukraine are supposedly ending up in the hands of terrorists in Africa. At the same time, she presented russia as a “guarantor of stability.”
▫️ The aim of such statements is to discredit Ukraine and reshape global perceptions of the war that Russia is waging against our country.
In reality, it is russia that plays a key role in destabilizing Africa — wagner group mercenaries have been involved in military coups and armed conflicts across the continent, allowing kremlin to gain access to natural resources. Moscow seeks to increase its political influence in the region to expand its network of allies and strengthen the anti-Western bloc in global politics.
